Okay so I don’t know why we NEVER take before and after pictures!!!

If I can just paint the picture in your head…the walls were orange and sticky and there was NO railing!!

So we set to work….well Trav worked and I just gave the orders, basically…Shout out to all the handy husbands, because us klutzy wives would never have cute things!!!

Trav put up the faux shiplap a week after we closed on our home ( blog post on how we did that to come yo )!! And last week, he built this railing so that our tiny little toddler wouldn’t get pushed over the edge by our not-so-tiny puppies! Have I mentioned I married up??

So here’s the deal, we are on a tight budget! We learned right after we got married that we had to work super hard for our things, and so getting creative to make our spaces dreamy has been a fun hobby of mine! With all that said, I also like NICE, QUALITY things! SO I’m going to share with you how we decorated our boring reading nook and turned it into a cozy place to rock some babies, and drink some warm apple cider!!!

WAYFAIR & HOMEGOODS

I always joke that I cannot be left in Homegoods unsupervised…and that’s 100% accurate! The same goes for online shopping at Wayfair! All of the furniture ( accept the mantel ) is from Wayfair, and when we ordered them they were marked at 70% off!! SCORE!! Homegoods is the same way! That cozy blanket was only $14.99!!!

WALMART & MICHAELS

So in Williamsport there is NO HOBBY LOBBY!!! I was completely devastated! However, ALL of my decorations were purchased at Michaels Craft Store at 40% off!! YES!!! I spent about $125 for all my pumpkins, baskets and other cute little trinkets!! Now let’s talk about pictures!! You guys, we’re photographers! We SHOULD have pictures EVERYWHERE, but the sad truth is we are great at capturing our moments and we totally STINK at printing them!!! So, you know this little momma cried some happy tears when we FINALLY printed our OWN family pictures and stuck them all over this cozy corner!! ALL of these frames were bought at Walmart for less that $5 each!!

Ps. We ALWAYS print our pictures at Mpix for best quality!

THE MANTEL & SIGNS

The mantel was a gift from my sweet momma-in-law at the cutest little Amish store in Lancaster, Pa! I’ll list that store below, so if you ever pop in the neighborhood you can go buy all the cute things too! I am ALWAYS asked about where I buy all my signs!! Besides the one my husband made me, I buy all my signs from Small Wood Home and they are ALWAYS less than $40!! My Christmas sign is my favorite, but I have purchased 4 large signs from this company and they always show up at my door step looking AMAZING!!! For the price, you HAVE to go grab one!!

THE DREADED RAILING

So to make a railing up to code, was not an easy feat! BUT with the help of the Lowe’s employee, Trav spent about $100 making this railing to keep our babies safe! It took about 2 days and LOTS of patients! I wish I could give you the step-by-step run down on how he did it, but I promise if you go to your local Lowe’s store and ask for help they will make sure you leave a happy camper!!
